I really can't imagine Bernadetter's character being anything other than a healer. It's her sweet character, rather than her being a girl. When Penny (rarely) plays games, she doesn't get shoved in the healer role.

Also, this one passes the genderflip test. If someone brought their boyfriend to girl's night out, it's just as weird and uncomfortable. It doesn't even have to be a gender thing. No significant others on friend nights. Done.

As for Sheldon's treatment of Amy...well yeah. He's a dick and has been called a misogynist in show. If you're specifically referring to the whipped jokes, I get why you're saying it. But guy nights and girl nights exist in real life as a chance to be stereotypical dumbasses, so I can let the same go in fiction. Especially when the episode clearly demonstrates that the guys doing it are all hypocrites.

So...to sum up: I get what your problem might be, but my political correctness vs humor line is in a different place than yours.

That's definitely how I interpreted it. It didn't seem to be a giant statement about how girls are terrible at video games and therefore they aren't invited, stay in the kitchen and make sandwiches thank you. I saw it as a 'hey, remember the good old days of gaming marathons before our love lives were complicated? Let's recapture that' which Raj basically says at the end of the episode.

Besides that, the show is a sitcom...it is basically successful because it uses stereotypes. But of course, when it's about girls it's therefore horrible and misogynistic and sexist...although what amuses me about this particular example is the fact that Bernadette is continuously being shown to be smarter and more successful than Howard and yet she also has to be good at video games...

Thank you. Some stereotypes are funny. In fact, the reversal of expectations people want, cease to be funny if the stereotype does not exist. Most good comedy offends someone. Some can go too far. It's all about recognizing the line, and I really don't think this episode touched it. Some of the guys were jerks (Sheldon), but that's more on them than the actual episode.

Girls have to be good at everything guys do, otherwise it's sexist. Even if they have never shown any interest in it prior. Didn't you know that?

Yeah what bothered me more was Sheldon's treatment of Amy rather than Bernadette playing the healer; which I agree with and that's in her character. I'm sure she enjoys dressing up her character and playing around with the game and isn't going to be too serious about it either hence her 'haha pew pew' sounds. I would like to see her progress more, like if she was genuinely interested in it but that probably won't happen.

I was watching older TBBT episodes and when Amy and Sheldon were first hanging out/going out they were doing quite well but now that they've been official or whatever it is in their minds, he's treating her worse for some reason and not as an equal as they were in the beginning. I kind of hope she breaks up with him at the end of this season.
