Uh, no omnivorous animals need meat to survive. Yet plenty of omnivorous animals eat meat when it's available and if they feel like it. They're doing it for survival and we're just greedy?

And Dolphins kill baby dolphins, and small porpoises for fun. I'm sure there are a lot of other examples of animal on animal cruelty for no logical reason, but I can't think of any off the top of my head.

Ugh. That reminds me of one the less-magical scenes in Planet Earth in which a pair of orcas played volleyball with a baby seal long past the point it was dead, just for funsies. (Well, I mean, I'm pretty sure they eventually ate it, but they seemed to enjoy giving it a long, slow death and then further beating the corpse before they got to the survival-essential part.)
