Oh god knows I've wished I was part of a wonderful little tight-knit group like that. The Mother is one lucky gal, not just because from what we know of her she seems to really be suited to Ted, but because she's gonna get to hang out with these people and have them as her kids' honorary aunts and uncles through the year 2030.

I think the sheer amount of love Future!Ted pours into describing every detail of his friends' lives and stories is one of the biggest reasons I connected so hard with this show. Like, it's one thing to have a show depicting such wonderful friendships in such a warm light. But when it's one of the main characters describing his own personal memories of those friendships? Whole 'nother level of adorable.

Since one of my huge peeves is when people say/write "the year 20__" before saying/writing a calendar year in the future rather than just "20__", I didn't want to watch the show because of them doing that when they show the kids on the couch. But once the show went into syndication, I decided to overlook that "flaw" and watch the show from the beginning; best decision ever.

I think they only do it because the viewer will realize it's a calendar year more easily when you write "the year 2030" than just "2030." I think the latter is easy to miss (especially because we're not all that used to 21st century dates).
