They feel Duckie is a bit of a Nice Guy. I think that's an arguable position either way.

Ahhh, I can actually kind of see where they're coming from. I don't really think he qualifies as one personally, but yeah.

Yeah it's definitely arguable, and I think has more to do with your comfortableness with some types of behavior. I tend to think all the guys in PIP are just a bit skeevy, and that the girls are better off without them, but I know that just me.

I don't know that it's an unforgivable sin... per se. It's just annoying, clingy, obsessive, entitled behavior that annoys some of us. A lot. For some people, it's a legit reason to dislike a character.

This argument makes me raise my eyebrows over just how paranoidly broadly you can stretch the definition, but since when is being a bit of a Nice Guy (TM) an absolute mortal sin that, unlike any number of other deep seated character flaws, somehow cancels out all your good traits?

No one said it's a mortal sin. But it's enough not to like a character. I think it's more about what kind of behavior you're comfortable with, and how comfortable you are with how you think it's presented. Everyone's different.
