I think the question is: do you think Edward's creepy actions are romantic and sweet and this is totally what true love is like, or do you see the problems in the way Twilight romanticizes and abusive and controlling relationship?

If it's the former, then, sorry to say, but they're not ridiculing your taste in Twilight. They're ridiculing you for thinking abuse is romantic.

.....mmm, nah, they're probably ridiculing her for liking Twilight.
The average Twihater hates it because it's "gay", because they are a Harry Potter fan, because they're either trying to act like a manly man or be *~one of the boys~*, because the acting in the movies is bad or because it's overhyped. Then there are a few that dislike it for literary reasons and because of the problematic sexist abusive grossness, but overall, it's more the "it's so laaaame" factor, and that is pretty shitty on the part of her friends.

i don't really know why i like twilight. i've never thought about it. it's just something i really enjoyed reading. i do like sexual tension quite a lot, so maybe that's why. i felt it was romantic in its fictional context., but i don't see twilight as an expose on how the world works or should work, lol. it's just fantasy, entertainment. if other people felt something different from those books, that's them. and i'm me :)

and yeah, to affirm what the person above wrote, my friends have never read twilight. they just like laughing at how ridiculous i am for enjoying such obviously bad literature. ohhh well, such is life.
