I mean, as a feminist, I can understand the supposed intent of the comment, I guess - it's asking people in more privileged positions not to think they know more about what the marginalized are going through, or take over the fight for them. But there's also recognizing that as a minority, in order to secure equal rights and treatment, you sort of need the support of enough of the majority population to gain them. That doesn't mean you have to pander to the majority, but you could, you know, recognize the ones who are actually trying to help and not snap at them for it.
