(Anonymous) 2012-03-22 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)Now back to topic: I don't think she's supposed to be the good person, but she is the heroine. I think that if she really had changed as much as she claims she has (I don't think she has changed, but she's just stopped the bullying and became mature in the process), she'd have gone out of her way to make amends, and y'know, apologize to everyone. I'm hoping that at some point she will. IMO she's genuine - in her own way. I think she regrets she was a bully (and rightfully so), she just doesn't feel sorry for the people now that they're standing against her. But I also think it's her right to stand against them, because she's not a victim, never was. And that's part of her character.
And AFAIK, "the men" aren't exactly after her. There was one man who pursued her, but the point was that he wasn't after her as much as he was having a mid-life crisis. And rest of the potential men were pretty much just people her mother tried to set her up with.
I don't think she's a goody two-shoes, and she's definitely not a Mary Sue. IMO she's well-written, and I like her, but I admit she does get away with a lot of shit most people don't. Just like a lot of former white, rich-born, privileged bullies IRL. Hopefully, she'll get a chance to truly redeem herself at some point.
