You know, while Perry is a delightful character to watch on TV, I think, in real life, he'd just be a verbally abusive asshole that you don't want to be around. Seriously, I love the character, but if a boss or co-worker treated me like that I'd be filing HR complaints so fast.

You know, it's funny, but the greatest teacher I ever had was a bit like Dr. Cox (or House, if you prefer). He was arrogant, kinda condescending, and pushed us all harder than any of us had been pushed before. But we (all 8 of us in this difficult college course) looked up to him the way J.D. looked up to Cox. When I had a mental breakdown, he ended up being one of the people who helped me through it even though he didn't even know me outside of class. He may have been a stereotypical jerk with a heart of gold in many ways, but I think I became a better person because I knew him.

You can be a great man AND an asshole, I don't see why the two are mutually exclusive.
