It depends on what you consider average, I guess. Anything under chest-length is "short" to me.

That seems.... very skewed. I'm not aesthetician, but a quick google search of pages by people that are puts "short" (for women) more in the realm of pixie cuts and bobs, whereas medium is around the shoulders, and chest-length is well into the "long" category.

I gotta ask, if you think her hair is short, how long was your hair originally, OP? I'm just curious, since for me to consider that short, I'd have to have hair all the way down to the small of my back.

Her hair's not really what I'd call short, but maybe in comparison to what you had before? I don't know.

But good for you! Elizabeth gets a lot of hate, but I personally thought she was pretty badass.

I thought she was awesome too. I've never quite gotten the hate, frankly. Each to their own and all that, but every character there made some seriously questionable choices over the course of the show, and except for Keller, not one of them gets the hate Elizabeth does. I've never quite understood why she was singled out.

Thank you, OP! We need more people who accept Elizabeth in spite of her imperfections and love her for the badass she is. Too many fans hate her just because she gets in the way of their chosen ship, and it sucks because she's so much more than that.

As to her hair, it's shorter in the first two seasons, but by the third and fourth seasons, she was rocking it at below-shoulder length. Looked much better that way, too.

I thought she was pretty badass. Granted, I also thought she could be a loose cannon who made some extremely icky decisions, morally speaking, but she was not weak and she was not indecisive and she had a spine of solid titanium.

Good for you! I too recently got my hair cut, all 22 inches of it, down to a pixie. At first I didn't like it, and then I realized it makes me look a bit like Abby from Primeval, which is awesome.

I never understood why people would hate her: personally, I enjoyed Teyla more, but I never got why fandom hated either of them.

Teyla hate? Really? I've always had the impression fandom was pretty fond of Teyla. She might not be as popular as John or Rodney, but I've never seen hate toward her, not anything like Elizabeth and Jennifer get. Huh.

Yeah, I think Teyla seemed like less of a threat to slashers. In my corner of fandom, though, there seemed to be plenty of mutual hate between Teyla-fans and Elizabeth-fans. Of course, that probably had to do with the fact that I was more into the shipping side of fandom than the slashing side, and John/Teyla fans never got what Elizabeth/John fans saw in their pairing, and vice versus.

Why shouldn't you? Weir had her issues - so did everyone else on the show - but she was *badass* when she needed to be, and she kept Both McKay and Sheppard in line, which wasn't easy.

Elizabeth was a great character, the writers just didn't know what to do with her. Which is sad. Torri Higginson, as a person, is awesome and sweet and warm and... *sigh*

But hair is empowerment and if that thought empowers you, then it's awesome.

Hmm...I may have the inspiration for my next haircut now :D IIRC, her hair was a bit shorter in the early seasons, wasn't it?

TBH, I thought she was a bit wooden early on in the show, but she grew on me. I was really sad when she left.
