It being "in" instead of "and" doesn't really change the meaning, so do you think it just sounds better? I think it's better rhetoric in making it "and" but they basically sound the same to me.

"And" doesn't make sense, because past lifetimes are part of forever. "In" makes sense because then the phrase explains how he could have loved her forever.

That being said, it's a pop song, so the fact that one way doesn't make sense, isn't saying much.

Lyrics follow the rules of poetry so the general sense is the same with either "in" or "and", even if lifetimes past is redundant with "and". Redundancy doesn't actually cause a sentence to makes less sense. It just means it's not an efficient use of language. So yes, it still makes sense, especially in poetry because of the rhetoric aspect, but you wouldn't use it in prose. "In" just provides more clarity.
