Why would you call it rape then?

I think many people nowdays think rape is some kind of aggressively-romantic, forceful sex. The word has been severely devalued.

I don't believe the word has been altered - it's just been given an extra, almost slang meaning. Some use the word to mean rough sex and/or rape fantasy (yes, some just mean rough sex when they say it and don't want an actual rape roleplay). In fandom you should expect you may see that use of the word from time to time.

Well that's kinda silly. I can see the idea of it being used for roleplay or a fantasy sure, and always assumed that was the meaning. But... we have a word for rough sex. It's called rough sex. Or can even be stated as simple fucking differentiating betwen sex and/or making love.

"Making love" isn't about the gentleness of the sex; it's about the feelings involved. There are gentle casual lovers, but they don't make love to each and every one-night-stand they have.

I'm not sure where we disagree? I'd consider the aforementioned type of lover to still be having sex with a one-night stand.
