You're probably thinking of the word "hysterical" which does have its roots in hysterikos, the Greek word for "womb" and historically has been used in a pretty sexist way since people used to use it to refer specifically to women freaking out (or fainting, as they were apt to do back in the day when women wore tight corsets that made breathing difficult).

"histrionic" is a totally different word with a totally different meaning.
