Just like you, they're experiencing it in a SAFE SETTING where they have the power to say NO and stop reading, writing, and/or watching the material.

The whole comment was gold, but this part especially is like platinum.

I agree with what the anon said. "Get help" sounds very harsh, but what they're trying to say is that you shouldn't be forced to deal with something that hurt you all by yourself. A small step might be looking for a sexual abuse survivors group. You could go and sit in and you wouldn't even have to say anything if you didn't want to. But maybe listening to other people might help. And after the group was finished, you could go to the group leader after and ask if they could direct you to a more private counselor.

One more thing about a group: even if you don't want to talk and even if you only go once, your presence will be one more person to listen to whoever is talking at the time, and that means a lot when dealing with an experience where the person feels like they aren't listened to.
