[ Panfandom Rec Meme ]

People wanted another one, so...

PANFANDOM REC MEME

"I ship it!"
"I want fic!"
"I want art!"
"I don't care what it is, but I want it!"
"Where's the fandom?"

Rec meme! You ask for recs, and others provide (or fill!).

Maybe there's something you'd really like to see but you can't find it. Why not ask for help? It might be out there! Or maybe there's something you really loved reading and you want someone to geek over it with. Why not rec it to someone else? Maybe they'll love it too! Who knows, someone out there might be looking for something that sounds exactly like someone you know just created.

Don't feel bad about reccing your own stuff, either! Apparently someone else wants to see it, right?

TEXTBOX (optional, dont worry):

Regular post will be up at the usual time!

Post apocalyptic movies or even apocalyptic ones where it happens.
Or dystopia future movies.

Basically recovering from a fucked world movies. The lesser known the better, because chances are I've seen the well known ones!

I don't care if they're american, anime, foreign or whatever - even fake documentary or flops like 2012. I just enjoy them.

Yeah, kicked off by hunger games but these are my favourite topics anyway.

Post-apocalyptic and dystopian are my some of favorite genres, but I have a hard time remembering the names of the movies I watch!

A Boy and his Dog (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0072730/) immediately comes to mind.

Italy and Australia pumped a lot post-apocalyptic car/motorcycle type movies out in the '70's and '80's; the really crappy, exploitation types. If you aren't too picky with the quality is would try the "exploitation" genre.

Hmmm, Equilibrium (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0238380/) gets some shit for being ridiculous, but I think it's a pretty cool movie.

Oh, and The Dark Backward (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0101660/), Judd Nelson's (and Bill Paxton's) best role ever!

Here's a few more that I like (check imdb.com):

Hell Comes To Frog Town
A Quiet Earth
Phase 7
Logan's Run
Six String Samurai
The City of Lost Children
Death Race 2000 (1975 version, not the prequel from 2008)
Dark City
Motorama
Bronx Warriors
The Warriors

Not movies, but you will completely adore the Fallout video games' setting, post-nuclear-fallout United States. The first two games by Interplay run on basically any Windows computer (even a netbook) and are classic old-school RPGs in the best sense possible; the most recent two by Bethesda are gorgeous open world first person shooters, with a great little helper system if you're not the most coordinated. I am pretty sure you could run an emulator like WINE and run the original Fallout on a non-Windows computer too.

Since you say "dystopia" and "anime", I assume you've watched both Akira and Ghost in the Shell. But I'll mention them anyway. ;) Cyberpunk in general traditionally takes place in a dystopian future, so anything in that vein will probably be up your alley.

Yes! I love Fallout! I forgot to mention 'Fist of the North Star,' which is anime. There's a movie and it sucks, but it's entertaining.

9

Yes, the title is just that, '9'. ;-) That's the animated movie (and short film it's based on) from Shane Acker that's responsible for the term "stitchpunks".

Noteworthy for being a computer animated post apocalyptic movie very high in creepiness. Can't recommend enough.

For some reason I'm thinking of zombie films.

Shaun of the Dead

Zombieland

Fido

Wall-E
