[ Panfandom Rec Meme ]

People wanted another one, so...

PANFANDOM REC MEME

"I ship it!"
"I want fic!"
"I want art!"
"I don't care what it is, but I want it!"
"Where's the fandom?"

Rec meme! You ask for recs, and others provide (or fill!).

Maybe there's something you'd really like to see but you can't find it. Why not ask for help? It might be out there! Or maybe there's something you really loved reading and you want someone to geek over it with. Why not rec it to someone else? Maybe they'll love it too! Who knows, someone out there might be looking for something that sounds exactly like someone you know just created.

Don't feel bad about reccing your own stuff, either! Apparently someone else wants to see it, right?

TEXTBOX (optional, dont worry):

Regular post will be up at the usual time!

Fandom: Harry Potter
Preferred Medium: (art? fic? comics? etc) fic, art, err, any good fanvids?
Preferred Genre: (gen? romance? angst? etc) romance, angst, humour. I'm a pathetic sap, so preferably no death or unhappy endings (though it's near unavoidable for S/R)
Characters/Pairings: (if any) Harry/Draco, Sirius/Remus, Bill/Fluer
Anything else? Details? I'm relatively new to the fandom so I've been wading through some old, not so great rec-lists. What I'd really love is some fic that handles the cliches of the fandom, (veela, bonded, secret relationship, hate sex, hogwarts stalky era) in a not-shitty way, or at least in a shitty, entertaining way, ha.

My favorite Harry/Draco fic is Take These Lies by Avocado (starts here). It's about Draco getting turned down for a job with the Aurors, and deciding to disguise himself as a woman to get in- but it's not a comedy, and is frequently on the dark side. There's some dub-con, and I have some issues with the Harry characterization and resolution (it is happy, no worries), but there's way more good than bad here.

I'm more of a Harry/Snape shipper, but I do read some Harry/Draco too, so maybe you'll like some of these things:

Painless_j's Recs (http://painless-j.net/) :S/he doesn't update the HP anymore, but you can find lots of pretty good, and good quality fic for all sorts of pairings, (s/he also organizes by theme and the main page has links to other good rec lists/archives)- The HP Rec Master List (http://painless-j.net/blog/category/hp-recs-masterlist/). I'll let you browse because the ones I'd rec you from the list don't have happy endings.

Underwater Light by Maya (http://www.box.com/shared/hzdddpdh1cmhb5sanip9) (HP/DM, link goes to PDF.) I've never read her other fics, but I remember liking that one.

I'm reading Cunning and Ambition (http://archiveofourown.org/series/11426) at AO3 (http://archiveofourown.org/) right now. It's a Slytherin!Harry WIP that isn't OOC.

I've always found the quality of fic at Skyehawke (http://archive.skyehawke.com/main.php?list=2)to be pretty good.

I hope this helps!

Negotiations (http://theguestroom.houseofhobbits.com/hp/NegotiationsAnd.html)
in which Harry pretends to be a rentboy and Draco doesn't seem to mind one bit

I've read this one, but lost the link before I could bookmark it, so thanks!

accio_rs_fics is a request and recommendation comm for R/S: just brows through the tags or make a request and you'll find what you're looking for

And if you really want to start with the fandom cliché: The Shoebox Project. It's not my favorite R/S fic, but it's one you have to read if you like R/S. It's the basis for a lot of fanon.

Awesome, thanks :)
