I don't even know why almost every Star Trek game is a huge bore and a flop. It bugs me deeply, lol.

The misspelling of universe is bothering me lol.

Honestly, don't do it. Don't waste your money. I know nothing about how they handled the Trek universe, but I played a previous MMO by Cryptic, and they're one of the worst game companies I've ever had the misfortune of dealing with. Save yourself the time and the money and the headaches, and just don't even bother. :/ It's really not worth it.

It's free to play. :P

Haha, welp. My statement still stands -- I wouldn't even bother, even if it's free.

Honestly? It's a bit more combat-oriented than I'd prefer - but that's the problem of adapting the show to a video game medium. And there's a few iffy missions.

But there's a lot of fun stuff too! The ships feel like big cruisers doing Wrath of Khan style circling slug-fests, not fighter ships - unless you're flying a Defiant! And your crew's just as important as your captain, and you can customise all their appearances and uniforms and things - so even though I'm playing as a boring old human, I can still have an Andorian and a Vulcan and all the other fun races in my away team.

And there's a lot of little touches - you can find a Horta who acts as a combat pet, and you can breed tribbles, and they purr when you pet them - unless you're Klingon, in which case you're both equally horrified by each other. And the Borg adapt to your weapons, and the Jem'hadar ambush you with their shrouding ability.

And they come up with a better explanation for the destruction of Romulus than Trek '09 did, and the Remans are actually kind of interesting instead of being generic baddies like in Nemesis.

Plus, the free-to-play is very generous. There's no content you're locked out of, most of the stuff in the cash store is cosmetic. It's worth downloading just to check it out.

I love it. The people are so nice on it, it's fun to pimp out ships, characters, and NPC. It is only as boring as you make it. It's really more fun when you join fleets.
