woo! I'm not active in the fandom at all, but when I read the scene I was like "OK, does anyone else want fic of this or is it just me?"

Basically, yes. I imagine them hanging out in the teacher's cloakroom, and she'll be explaining like, the most recent advances in Muggle technology and Snape will pretend not to be interested by making a snide comment but she's so nice and friendly that they end up having a really stimulating, intellectual discussion about it while all the other staff members raise their eyebrows at each other and make lewd gestures behind their backs. And then say, Umbridge says something awful about half-bloods and Burbage totally calls her out on her racist bullshit! And she notices that Snape seems a little more brooding than usual about it, and she asks him what's wrong and they totally have a life-altering, possibly definitely OOC conversation about how he's a half-blood and she promises never ever to tell anyone, and she never does, not even when she's about to die.

...Is there no fic like this? Considering how popular Snape is, and how ships have been launched on considerably less, I'm actually pretty surprised. But then, you might have noticed that I ship on the absolute drop of a hat.

I don't know if there's any fic like that, but I think I might possibly definitely ship it now, and I may or may not have a new headcanon. *shifty eyes*
