i emphatically agree with you. i have never, ever understood the obsession people have with this movie, and i doubt i ever will. i've seen it three times, and it just gets more boring and bizarre with every viewing. and the weirdest part is that i actually love fantasy films. *shrug*

I like the ideas behind the movie: the actual labyrinth, the goblin king, stealing children and questing to get them back...

I think I probably would have liked it better if it was less allegorical for growing up and more just plain fantasy.

Yeah, IA. I'm so glad Jim Henson won out on the ending. If you listen to the Brian Froud commentary, he says he wanted to end it differently, and hated that they show up at the end (Because they weren;'t supposed to actually *exist*, but be little parts of herself)

I hate that kind of stuff, though, along with the "It was just a dream" trope.

Fanfiction ahoy! Seriously. Most of it focuses on the fantasy aspects and the movie themes, but with the goofy, bizarre stuff toned down or eliminated altogether.
