To her credit Scholastic wanted one book per month (something that almost nobody can do unless they have a BIIIIG headstart) and she did write detailed outlines as the skeleton of each with all the necessary things that her own editors or proteges fleshed out. And she did always credit the others involved.

I agree. It is understandable why she did it, considering what Scholastic wanted out of her. (One book a month is crazy for just about anyone!) And yeah, I do understand that she basically had authority to make sure every book went the way she wanted.

It's just always seemed a bit weird to me in hindsight, as it came out when i was a kid, and I had no idea she wasn't the one physically writing the books. I'm also a writer myself, so the idea of someone writing the books for me (though understandable in her case) makes me feel a bit odd.
