Sadly it's the way a lot of fandom works. At least more people are beginning to realize that the label "Mary Sue" pretty much doesn't mean anything anymore seeing as how everyone and their grandmother use it to describe characters they don't like regardless of their actual traits qualifying for Sue status or not.
