All of these secrets about fandom hating women are making me feel very grateful for my little corner of fandom, where we have lots of awesome female characters, and while we don't always write about them, everyone always says we should use them more and gets really excited whenever they do get written. And even the female!villains (why hello Margaret Thatcher) have thoughtful serious fic written about them and aren't just mindlessly character-bashed. I can't remember ever seeing a female character hated for her gender or fridged so that an OTP could get together (we do, however, seem to have quite a high proportion of happy threesomes & foursomes xD).

That said, we can always use more women-centric fic! All these secrets are inspiring me to go off and write some more. :D

Hee, it's the only fandom that I know of that has Margaret Thatcher - UK politics RPF. (Obviously RPF isn't everyone's thing, though, so sorry for getting your hopes up if it isn't yours.)

Ohh that makes sense lol. (I was thinking of The Iron Lady, which I haven't seen tbh.) RPF is not my cup of tea, although I am glad to hear that this particular fandom is pro-women. :-)

Iron Lady was saaaaad. I thought it'd be way more about politics, but it was all about aging & dementia. Meryl did a wonderful job in the acting department, but boy was that a depressing film!
