...well except for the part where I actually do own the series on DVD now and have reserved amounts of love for it.

I think that is how most fangirls operate. I don't think they can wrap their minds around the politics of the series. So they just use their self-perpetuating fanon to churn out their crap.

Granted, when I got into Gundam Wing, I had only the fanon to rely on because the series hadn't been released yet, but I didn't write anything for it. I did watch the entire thing when it came out on Toonami though. There were some interesting little tidbits there to jump onto, like Heero rescuing Duo rather than offing him, and going on to use his name as a cover. It's just enough to get you thinking.
