19. HAHAHA Me too, EXACTLY like that. I even wrote this long-ass, terrible fanon-based fic. Oh man, I still have a printout somewhere that reread from time to time and cringe and laugh over. But it was fun, which is why I can forgive some of the squee-tastic flailing that (mostly) younger and/or brand new fans have, since I was totally like that. I even fell into the trap of hating Relena just because some of the first fics I read mischaracterized her so badly as the Evil One out to separate Heero and Duo.

Then I watched the show and was like... wtf are all the people thinking? None of the fic made any sense at all based on the timelines. Haha... ah, the old days. It makes me nostalgic.

I prefer now that I actually know canon before I go read fics, but still there's a certain shininess in my mind to just going along with mass enthusiasm. I think I still hold more fanon over canon when I think of GW, but at least I'm aware of it, and it doesn't bother me too much that I enjoy it that way. Too bad most of the fics when I go back now to reread them are pretty crap :/

I think the fandom is starting to mature now and the quality of fics coming out are much truer to the canon. especially now that the squealers have moved on to shinier fandoms.
