Same.

okay

[identity profile] generalstolas.livejournal.com 2012-04-10 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Same. Hell, I had to double check to make sure I didn't get drunk one day and sent in a fs.

[identity profile] greeneyed.livejournal.com 2012-04-10 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Are we talking about a specific fic or a genre? I only know this one Inception story (for the longest time, I thought it was a bakery) and I didn't like that it went the standard Workaholic Lawyer way. As for genre ... the answer is GORGEOUS, GLORIOUS, BRILLIANT, BLOODY AWESOME COFFE!

(Anonymous) 2012-04-11 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
no, that's not relevant

Me neither.

Running a coffee house is nerve-wracking. Everyone's always so on edge and/or pissed beyond measure idk how anyone can manage romancing while serving customers. To me, it's unrealistic.

(Anonymous) 2012-04-11 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
Lol, most jobs in fan fiction are written unrealistically.

[identity profile] relmneiko.livejournal.com 2012-04-12 06:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah this. Your best odds lie in nabbing your coworker's number off the staff contact sheet and calling them to meet you outside of work, because AT work you have time for about 5 minutes of conversation total over an 8 hour shift. It's not like working retail.

[identity profile] chocorate.livejournal.com 2012-04-10 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Why a coffee house tho. idgi

[identity profile] vivalana.livejournal.com 2012-04-11 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
Hey, instead of everything being cool, what if everything was boring instead?

I'm mostly being facetious.

[identity profile] its-still-talk.livejournal.com 2012-04-11 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know if you're talking about the genre or a specifc fic, but I'll take this opportunity to state my feelings on coffee house AUs in general:

I just don't get it.

(Anonymous) 2012-04-11 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
I thought this was a Stargate secret, but now I'm not sure. What fandom is this?

(Anonymous) 2012-04-11 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
Probably Inception. Y'know the famous coffee shop fic? I'm not even in fandom and I know about it.

(Anonymous) 2012-04-11 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
Why is this secret?

[identity profile] yunho.livejournal.com 2012-04-11 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
either it refers to that inception coffee house au that is hailed as the greatest great thing to ever grace this great fandom world

or it refers to coffee shop aus in general, which pretty much always suck.

i hate myself for knowing what this comment is referring to.

[identity profile] otakugal15.livejournal.com 2012-04-11 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
I lump that particular AU (coffee shop, bakery shop, whatever the hell us that's similar) into the Hipster AU thing.

And I don't get the appeal, outside some interesting designs in fanart.

*looks at ST fandom in some spots*

(Anonymous) 2012-04-11 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
I thought this might be referring to the Dragon Age 2 coffeeshop AU. If it is, I definitely agree, what little I got through reads like an original fic with characters named after the Dragon Age 2 characters.

LOL me either

i think it's because the authors probably uh work in coffee houses

likewise, i'm fixated on writing farfetched musical!AU's

Me too

(Anonymous) 2012-04-11 02:33 am (UTC)(link)
I like them. Mostly because they're generally nice and simple- and I need a break from the angst fests I normally read.
I don't understand the appeal of the fifty-million medical and cowboy AUs I find all the time. :/
ext_19953: (benjamin linus you magnificent bastard)

[identity profile] mutantjules.livejournal.com 2012-04-11 05:56 am (UTC)(link)
.....I just generally love AUs. If it's well-written, I can dig ANY PREMISE they stick the characters in

on-topic, the only coffeehouse one I've read was the Inception one. (Which I didn't OMG LOVE, but liked.)

[identity profile] maxi1234.livejournal.com 2012-04-11 07:24 am (UTC)(link)
The same appeal of every other AU. What's there to get?
