It's possible to criticize Brick's misogyny and arrogance without cattily saying "ew she's not even that pretty". In fact you're basically doing the the same as Brick the secret's OP, tearing down another woman because you're butthurt that (whether given to her by herself, or the rest of society) she gets more accolades on her appearance.

And yes, I hate that. As an average-looking person who aspires to be a TV actress (well, in general, but the whole beauty thing applies more to the screen than the stage) it's a nightmare because men can look however they want to an extent, but women need to be all beautiful and thin.
