I was so mad when Fakir was like "Let's go back to being our true selves." Easy for you to say, your true self isn't a DUCK.

lbr, it's not so hot being a duck when you've been a human. I found myself really stuck on the way Ahiru got her whole human life stripped from her, they way she lost her friends and never got to wear pointe shoes and really, all of the things she verbally mourned for.

Yeah. To me, that ending was always pretty tragic. Even the noblest of actions couldn't secure for her a happy ending. Ahiru deserved so much more, but of course in real life (and not in fairy tales) endings are not about getting what you deserve, but rather about getting what you get. Her decision to be content in that restricted role just shows how good and big her heart was... but that doesn't mean that the life she ended up with was a great and wonderful one. Just thinking about it makes me so sad. :(

In my headcanon Fakir managed to write her back into a human and nothing will make me believe otherwise T^T

Wasn't the point that it was okay to be "just a duck?" They both knew each other at their best and their worst, and despite that, Fakir still admired her for what she was, even in her true self. And Ahiru was still able to dance in the end and help turn the townspeople back from being ravens, despite being "just a duck."
...IDK, my 2c. I never got the feeling that having her turn back into a duck at the end was supposed to be something negative. Even though I indulge myself in human again!Ahiru fanarts and fic because yup.
