Let me just say this: If I adamantly opposed abortion and ever found out that I aided in something I felt was unbelievably morally wrong because I'd been trying to do something nice for someone and donated money to them for a totally unrelated cause, I would be beyond pissed.

I'm not sure whether to advise you to spill the beans and apologize to the people whose trust you betrayed and kindness you took advantage of, or take this to your effin' grave. If I were one of the people I described above, I doubt I'd ever forgive you. Heck, even if I weren't I'd be mightily upset.

I hope you feel guilty as hell about this, OP, because you should.

Yeah.

I get that there is a lot of stigma and admitting that you need an abortion comes with serious social consequences, but it seems like if you're going to ask people for money the least you could do is be honest with them about why. Quite honestly the LEAST you could do, but I suppose that's what people get for trusting someone on the internet.

I'm going with that they're better off taking this to their grave. I wanna call troll on this one, but even if it wasn't the OP, I've got money on that at some point someone has done this.

I agree with this so much.

I am completely against abortion for religious reasons, and that's my right. I would feel so betrayed if someone I tried to help took advantage of my benevolence and used the money I donated to them to achieve something that goes so completely against my morals and religion.

You don't do that to people, and you certainly don't do that to people you consider friends.

Because that prevents people who need an abortion from getting one. Women who can't afford to have an abortion quite obviously don't have the choice that people who can afford them do.

Where I live abortions are covered by the state (Woo! Free healthcare!) . Which means they are payed for by our taxes - even moral objectors have to pay for them. So, I have no objection whatsoever to moral objectors being forced to pay.
