Job's torture was pretty fucking unnecessary.

I've also always been really suspicious about God hardening Pharaoh's heart to fuck up Moses's mission to free his people THAT GOD GAVE HIM TO ACCOMPLISH- I mean, did God want to save his chosen people or didn't he?

Why is it amusing for them to read a story and judge the actions of a character in it? I get that you're on the "He's God and therefore anything he does is good even if it doesn't conform to any definition of the word" but that doesn't make it stupid for them to judge the story for themselves using actual morality. Especially when people like the OP's friend are trying to get them to base their life on it because God is the definition of love and good. Is it wrong for them to actually check the Bible out? That's part of what religious people do too.

>why is it amusing

because it's people judging god and that's funny

I don't get why that's funny. Why shouldn't people judge God?

So you never form any opinions about anyone else, real or fictional, unless they've stated that they care what you think? Especially if you're told to form a personal relationship with them and feel all sorts of positive things about them? Maybe even love them?

you're allowed to have opinions, just don't expect them to be logical in the face of an omniscient, omnipresent and omnipotent being that is being all natural realms of human existence

It amuses me when people cheerfully accept the idea of a God who doesn't even attempt to adhere to the same moral standards he imposes on his creations, basically because he's bigger than we are. Might makes right, that's a great reason to want to spend eternity with someone.

god can do whatever he wants, we can't even begin to hope we could ever understand his plan or his m.o., everything else i've said in this whole thread, etc
