Ah, also, I don't want to imply that people are "worse people" for not sharing a belief or ideology of mine, because...I don't know, I think that's a VERY unhealthy attitude to have.

Nobody is saying they're the exact same things. They're saying it's the principle of the thing. There's a difference there.

Murdering someone out of hate is killing someone. Killing someone to protect your child is still killing someone. It's still killing someone and if you believe killing someone is wrong, it should apply to both situations, though one is surely more understandable than the other.

Annoying someone because of fandom and annoying someone because of religion is still annoying someone.

It's kinda like if you hate all telemarketers/telephone solitictors/people asking for donations or w/e. But you believe in a cause like gay rights and join a group and start calling people for donations because you think your cause is higher than the methods used. You're still using the methods you hate other people using on you, regardless of what it's for. Whether you're morally right or not, you're still being a bit of a hypocrite...
