your priorities are fucked up. Pro-life harassment can take the form of physical harm and murder and if the OP's RL identity was known to anyone on her flist, that's what she could have been facing.

You're not obligated to give anyone money though - but once you do, you can't really control how they'll use it.

True, but that doesn't mean I can't think they're scum if they ask me for money because they need X and then using the money for Y, which -- if you go back, I think you'll see -- is the complaint of most ppl against OPs actions.
