It's weirdly popular on lj and tumblr and in the non-dudebro parts of fandom and... idgi. And tbh, it's seeming ubiquitousness is part of the reason it bugs me. My first memory of SanSan actually being a thing is after I first read AGOT and I went looking for ASOIAF fic because I wanted some happy Ned/Cat fics to east the pain and I kept seeing Sansa/Sandor fics. Sandor completely failed to make an impression on me in AGOT, and from the descriptions of the fics it sounded like Sandor was going to be this awesome knight hero guy for Sansa. And then I read ACOK and I was just like.... perplexed.

Whatever. I'll just be over here OTP-ing Ned/Catelyn and shipping Jaime/Brienne and crack shipping Jon/Sansa. Although in the fandom circles that I frequent, Jaime/Cersei and Robb/Theon are pretty popular. I just think that the non-SanSan ships are less organized so it's harder to quantify their presence.

I don't like Sansan at all but I can see the appeal. It's very Harlequin romance-y.

Yeah, (stupid) people also think Edward/Bella is the height of romance so I'm not surprised by its popularity. Just annoyed.
