I think what it is is that they have a very strong emotional relationship in a way that reminds me of Will & Grace. There was no denying that Will was gay, but he and Grace certainly loved each other and had the same kind of emotional bond that I see in Blake and Cricket.

But like Amanda said to Cricket, she doesn't have to worry about losing Blake to another woman and yes, he seems to put Cricket above his male partners. But Cricket does the same thing because in the long run, it's the emotional connection that matters, not the sex. So on a strictly sexual basis, yes, Blake is gay. Romantically/emotionally? I think he's Cricket-oriented. :)

I haven't seen much of Will & Grace so I can't comment on that, but I agree with you otherwise.

Other than the gay man/straight woman thing, I don't think they're much like Will & Grace at all. I may be remembering wrong since I haven't watched the last episodes in a really long time, but didn't they both end up married with kids, and even living in different states I think? Where Will and Grace were best friends, Blake and Cricket are...I'm not sure what they are, but something different. Like, weren't Will and Grace going to have a kid together, and then decided against it because they didn't want that kind of commitment to each other/wanted kids with people they were romantically involved with instead? Whereas Cricket and Blake decided that they want their primary relationship to be with each other and they'll just have an open marriage to get their sexual needs met elsewhere. So there just seems to be different levels of...commitment? in the two relationships, at least to me.

That's why I said it reminds me of W&G, not that it's the exact same situation because it very obviously isn't. The emotional aspect of their relationships is very similar, though; they turn to each other when they can't face anyone else and are more themselves when they're around each other because there's just a complete understanding of trust and acceptance. Yes, Will and Grace ended up living separate lives with their own families but I don't think that devalues the relationship they had during - and before - the show itself.

And hey, who's to say Blake and Cricket won't end up separated throughout the course of the series, especially if their secret gets out (which I would hate but I never trust television writers).
