She's either 11 or 14, depending on book/tv verse, sheltered, sweet and kinda dumb. He's an adult and a drunken asshole. He likes her but utterly sucks at really doing anything nice. Some people think it's sweet. Some don't.

Yeah, besides A.) rescuing Loras from his homicidal brother, B.) trying to stick up for Sansa, C.) rescuing Sansa from a mob of angry rapists, D.) trying to return Arya to her family and E.) then preventing Arya from getting slaughtered by the Freys, he really sucks at doing anything nice.

Trying to stick up for Sansa? Like when he went to his boss, the queen, and went, "you know how you told your son not to hit her? Well, he's getting the Kingsguard to do it instead - you might want to have a talk with him about that," or even "so the other day when the king was having Sansa slapped around, I remembered that..." Or the time he went to the other kingsguards and went "Joffrey will let me call you out and play skip rope with your entrails if I just so much as mention that it'd be hilarious to watch, so how's about you start pulling your punches on the girl?" Or when he didn't do any of that and repeatedly told Sansa that it was her fault for being weak and stupid?

Face it, he's not good at being nice. And as adorable as his travels with Arya were, he was just bringing her back for ransom and to get a new job.

LOL at you thinking going to CERSEI for help about JOFFREY would have helped. As if she gave a shit about what her son did (the books at least) and thought he was anything but perfect. This was the woman who referred to her son eviscerating a cat as "that silly business with the cat". He probably molested Tommen and Cersei just told Tommen to shut up when he brought it up to Jaime. Seriously, I can't with this.

Worst case scenario, he would have have gotten himself killed and/or Joffrey would have found another way torment her. The best he could do was be discrete and try to cover for her.

Wait, what? Are we reading the same books? Because I sure as hell don't remember reading anything indicating or implying that Joffrey molested Tommen.

There's one tiny moment, when Jaime is talking with Tommen after Tywin's death , he says that the world is full of horrible things, but that it's possible to run away from them by "go away inside". Then Tommen says he used to do that, sometimes, when Joffrey... He doesn't finish his sentence because Cersei arrives and starts to scolding him. Some readers think that Tommen was going to talk about being molested by Joffrey.

Even Tyrion knew that the threat of telling Cersei was enough to make Joffrey behave. The whole point of Sandor's character is that he isn't some woobie "just has a hard shell but is soft on the inside" cliche. But you go on thinking that he is if it makes your crappy fanfic make more sense.

Don't know how good Tyrion's threats were given how Joffrey was tormenting her right up until his death.

You are right that Sandor isn't some soft woobie...that hardly means that he consciously knew of ways to protect Sansa without getting himself killed but chose not to because he didn't care, as you are suggesting. Pretty sure it didn't even come to GRRM's mind either.

And I'm saying he did as much as he could given his expendable status. I don't think that, given his feelings for Sansa, if he knew of a way that would A.) protect her and B.) not get killed, he would have sat on it.
