This is one of those shows whose popularity makes me have even less faith in our society and culture than I used to. Nobody wants to see heroes or a positive message anymore. It's all reality crap or dark, selfish and immoral characters.

Maybe you should actually watch the show or read the books before making stupid judgements. Just a thought.

Because there are actually loads of characters in this series that are good, compassionate people. Nobody is flawless or without some darkness, of course, but I'd say the majority of the main characters are people you can root for.

And the rape is really not as prevalent as people make it out to be. It is certainly present, but is never described in detail and only horrible people that you're supposed to hate are the ones that do it. It isn't there to ~fulfill men's violent fantasies~ or turn anyone on.

Yeah, I haven't read the books, but I can't really think of any rape-y scenes from the show. *Spoilers* I guess Dany's wedding night could count... that's all that stands out in my mind. Sure there's of sex (some of it taboo sex), but it isn't a world full of rape. GOT isn't Gor.

And just as an FYI, Dany's wedding night doesn't happen in the book like it did on the show, Drogo is actually quite sweet to her.

Go read Archie then.

It's been like that for hundreds of years. Nobody wanted to see heroes or positive messages in the first place unless it was for children. And even then, sugar-coating children's media is a relatively recent thing.

Blame America for the sugar-coating

Really? Look up "video nasties" if you think the US is the only country that has freaked out about censorship.
