Everyone is treated absolutely equally no matter what, everyone is mindlessly loyal to each other, everyone follows the exact same laws regardless of anything else, rules which everyone is made sure to be aware of and aware of the consequences of and lawbreakers are given the exact same gruesome punishment no matter what the cause of the crime, everything is shared equally, everyone does the same amount of work, everyone is trained from birth to value the greater good over the individual

Admittedly I am biased, but according to JKR, it doesn't work very well, really. The Hufflepuff welcome message on Pottermore reads, in part, "it’s true that Hufflepuff is a bit lacking in one area. We’ve produced the fewest Dark wizards of any house in this school." Trustworthy, loyal, honest, hard-working, and fair-minded are corruptible virtues eventually, but you have to work a lot harder to get there than you do with the other houses. And would result in a fairly crappy extremist, really.
