The only reason I want to be published is I have cool ideas that I want to write. I feel like I'm doing something wrong. All everyone else wants is a fandom. :\

No, you're not doing it wrong. I feel like most people who want to be published (and nearly all of the ones who will) want to be published because they love writing and are good at it. I suspect that the idea of a fandom is just a perk. It is for me.
