the amount of time people spend daydreaming about the fandom/ship wars/tinhats their book's gonna have is inversely correlated to the probability that they will ever get more than 20 pages in before getting bored and going back to writing Sherlock fic.

I have never written fanfic. I just want to write about my own characters.

but I'd love to have other people write about my characters too! it's a little selfish lol, that's why it's secret. but I fucking love my characters and I want to know what others think of them, even if it's had. I also can't write romance, period, so I wanna know who people would ship.

Well apparently it's ok to write a novel-length fanfic and publish it as original work, just change the names. So maybe some of those people will have a fandom someday.

Personally, after spending a year with writer's block, I don't care if I only come up with fanfictions for the rest of my life as long as I've got something to write. I don't want to go through that ever again.

Which is why I assume most people who write secrets like this will never get published.

I sort of hope so, too, because writing specifically aimed at fandom often sucks.
