No, he's stated Sherlock is celibate, because (paraphrased) "asexuals are boring to write".

/if you can't figure out a way to make asexuals interesting, it's because you're an uncreative hack.

And yeah, you don't have to slot in sex just to be interesting. If you have no idea how to make a story that focuses on plot and character but have no sex then you're just a knockoff writer.

Did you see the end of SiB? Oh noes, poor White woman being menaced by Ay-rab turrists!
I agree that a story doesn't need sex to be interesting, but I'm saying, you can deal asexuality in ways that are interesting. Hell, I think Sherlock being asexual would make his relationship with John MORE interesting, since they'd have to deal with their different levels of interest in sex. if Sherlock is just "abstaining", then where's the tension? They get together, they start having sex. If Sherlock doesn't want sex, what do they do?

Yes! There are so many excellent fics out there that discusses exactly that, I wish there are mainstream movies/series that dare to tackle this kind of story.

But I agree with you. If asexual!Sherlock was their intention, they probably still wouldn't get it right.
