I don't mind it personally? Considering Aang has essentially been dead for twenty years. So it isn't too much of an outlandish conclusion. But w/e man.

Honestly I could care less whether it was canon or not, though I always have preferred the Zutara dynamic more than Kataang. I really couldn't get into the whole Aang-finding-his-one-true-love-before-puberty situation. )8 If he'd been Katara's age (mentally/physically anyway lmao) I'd probably ship it.

I'm right there with you on the "can't suspend disbelief to the point that pre-pubescent Aang finds his TWOO WUV right away and stays with her forever" front. That's part of the reason I hate the HP7 epilogue so much -- people grow and change, JKR! Just because two people were right for each other during school doesn't mean that they'll still be right for each other after years and in a different environment!

ok well for one thing, 12 and 14 =/= 17 and/or 18. For another thing, it's rare but sometimes it DOES work out for people who dated at that age to go on to marry. Sometimes they stay together until then and sometimes they break up/date other people and then get back together.

I found Aang and Katara's situation to be way more unrealistic. Cute, don't get me wrong, and it is fiction so I'm not really that upset about it, but FAR less likely to actually happen if the story were real.

I know it can work. It's just that almost everybody who survived the final battle is revealed or implied in the epilogue to have stayed with the girlfriend/boyfriend they had in 7th year. The sheer number of couples who stayed together is what strains my suspension of disbelief. One or two pairs, sure. The number that I have seen in canon and fanon, however, makes the situation more or less equally unrealistic (IMO).

Still far from being everybody. I mean you said one or two couples would be okay, and it was... just two couples?

Worse writing would be having an epilogue where Harry or whatever was randomly paired up with someone else.

Mentally? I'd say mentally, he has Katara beat in maturity, especially by the end of the series.
