I haven't read the second book yet, but I guess I could see that based on last Sunday's episode and the exchange between him and Dany. Though I like to think he has some of those kind of "Nice Guy" thoughts or motivations but tries hard to suppress them because he actually loves Dany and he knows that would drive her away. Or he has this paternal urge to sort of protect her when that's not what she wants and he knows it, and he's having to re-examine that. I don't know. I don't think they're a perfect couple in the slightest but I just really like the dynamic they have, it's interesting
