Dumbledore has a even cooler name origin than the one you suggest: it's old english for 'bumblebee', so JKR liked it for this music-loving character who often hums to himself. And Albus means light

More name origins that most people know?

Fleur Delacour: french for flower of the court
Voldemort: french for flight from death
Rubeus Hagrid: He would be red-faced and haggard after a night of drinking
Alastor Moody: Alastor is latin for revenge and he certainly is the second

I love the name Tom Marvolo Riddle and the reveal of the anagram. Totally blew me away as a kid. And I would have sworn Marvolo was a real name, but I can't find any Google results that are not Voldemort-related.

I've heard a few times (I forget where) that while the name Marvolo is not a real name, it's probably based off of the name Malvolio (as in Shakespeare's 'Twelfth Night').

Ah, maybe that's why it sounded so familiar to me.
