I agree with much of this.

I've had a friend irl say they want Makorra to happen because having a firebender and a waterbender together would "make up" for the "travesty" that was Kataang. And I'm kind of like well...I like Makorra but what does it have to do with Zutara or Kataang? And while I strongly prefer Zutara over Kataang, I never thought of the latter as a travesty.

For the record, I also like Makorra a lot, but it's too early in the series for me to be making such a big deal over shipping. And as for fans going batshit over it? Yeah it's dumb, but...see this is the biggest problem I've had with LoK so far. The producers are kind of inviting it. They're putting all these little cute scenes in and romantic tension and ship-teasing and I'm like IT'S EP 4 FFS, can we please not focus on this right now? I'd like characters to get their own character development as well as relational (friendship etc.) development before the romance starts, please. It's distracting and annoying. Also I feel like Makorra is going to happen for the wrong reasons (main girl/main guy, kowtowing to militant Zutarans, etc.) which just really bugs me.

I do kind of think Mako was being shallow with Asami tho, I mean he saw her once and went totally glassy-eyed for her lol. But it's a part of his character and it's pretty obv that relationship isn't going to work out so.
