I remember finding that place. The actual kink meme is avengerkink, and it's on its third round. Yes, there's lots of slash, but I'm in the middle of a Thor/Jane fill, so het does happen. Femmeslash happens, too. I haven't seen a lot of Black Widow/Iron Man prompts, but prompt it anyway, anon! You could start a new trend.

I am beyond excited that they are waiting for the movie to be released in the U.S. before opening the meme up for prompts; it lessens the chance of the first few comment pages being full of OOC crap.

Anyway--I'm sure there will be some het prompts. Obviously the meme will be overrun with Iron Man/Captain America, but if non-Charles/Erik shipper can survive in XMFC, you can do it in the Avengers.

i'm rly curious about how the prompts for that pairing will roll (*), because the movie doesn't give supporters much to go on.

tony/bruce, on the other hand...

eta: (*) ok, probs in the same way they were rolling before the movie, with a weird mishmash of cherry-picked comics canon and fanon. but to clarify, i meant more in the sense that i'm curious how the prompts will accommodate the new movie canon.

I don't know how you can have a "canon" in an industry built around hiring a new team to "do something different" with the characters every two years, which usually involves retconning practically everything around the new editorial direction.

But I'm not bitter.

The canon does shift, it does morph, you're right on that. But most of the main points in canon are solid even between alternate universes. The movies have obviously pulled more from the Ultimate universe so maybe that's a good place to start. The "main" universe at Marvel (specifically Avengers) got a renumbering a few years ago and most of that is easy to pick up in trades at this point.

And if it does get confusing... ask. Check Wiki to see what might be important. Honestly the comic based Avengers fandom is generally pretty ready to tell you all you want to know. Who doesn't love a chance to talk about their fandom!?

A recovering Marvel fan actually, the company that gives each hot new writer a chance to do another Wolverine origin story with a dead love interest. Trying to figure what's in or out of Marvel continuity is only slightly less complex than superstring theory.

Ah, I only asked because of the whole New 52 thing DC did recently.

As I avoid Wolverine titles like the plague they are, I wouldn't really know about the ten billion books that no doubt contradict each other horribly. I've never had that hard a time sorting out the continuity for the Avengers though. Even the 90s weren't that terribly complex to me (crappy, yes. Complex? Not so much). But everyone's got a different way of looking at things, I guess.

not surprising to me since the fandom was already set on a pairing before the movie was out, and while tony and bruce were cute and the only m/m relationship between avengers that got real play, it wasn't launch-a-thousand-fics material.

no relationship in the movie was launch-a-thousand-fics material, imo, even tho some ppl i know got really into the idea of bruce/natasha after seeing it.

Well, yeah, Steve/Tony is hard to beat due to the comics... but still... Tony and Bruce were incredibly cute :(

However, I think that we still need more time. I mean, a non slasher friend who saw it is now shipping Tony/Bruce too (A scene almost at the end had her squealing with joy), and she's also shipping Natasha/Loki very hard so... well, we could wait and see.

I do have some ideas for fics, but some of the prompts not being filled are lovely, and I wish more people were filling them too. That used to be the beauty of comic fandoms... most of the time, it was very polyshipping...

honestly? i don't think they're hard to beat due to the comics at all. ppl who come into comics based movie fandom ignore the comics in favor of the movies all the time (rightly so), otherwise pairings like, say, wolverine/rogue would never become popular, loki/balder would be much more popular than loki/thor, clint barton would be the team jokester, not tony stark, etc.

but for sure avengers fandom needs more time, isn't the movie coming out in north america today or tomorrow? that should get a move on things.

But.. Clint Barton is also one of the main team jokesters as well, at least in the fics I read.

I basically ignore the comics in favour of the movies because with all the tons of parallel universes, different dimension versions of the characters, time traveling and general plot fuckery, I really wouldn't know where the hell to start reading...

i'll defer to you on that, tbh, because i'm not into avengers fandom, i just binged on fic for three days after i saw the movie last friday, then got bored.

but in most of the ones i got to read, hawkeye sounded pretty sedated compared to his comics counterpart (but livelier than how he was in the avengers movie) while tony was very rdj tony. which leads me to believe these are mostly movie characters inspired fics with cherry picked comics aspects (cap and IM are supposed to be husbands!!1).

I basically ignore the comics in favour of the movies

no shame in this game. movies and shit like dcau are so much neater and easier to keep track of. the characters tend to be more likable, too.

THat Cap and IM are supposed to be husbands comment is what I meant 'comics are hard to beat', since I assume it reffers to that one panel where Cap married a female alternate version of Tony.
I've found a variety of different Clint versions, mostly going the jokster of the group route. But then, I'm actually hunting Tony/Bruce, so there might be a small difference on how those writers see Clint, as opposed to the ones who write, say Clint/Coulson

The kink meme in question isn't even up and running and you already complain that there is not enough het, especially in your preferred pairing for you poor, het deprived, little eyes?

On the already running Avengerskink, there have actually been quite a lot of Natasha centric prompts.And from what I've seen, the fill ratio for those prompts is actually pretty high (compared to the general fill ratio, which isn't too great at the moment).

I've been avoiding that kink meme right now because I'm terrified of movie spoilers so maybe other people are doing the same? But you're right in there being a ton of Natasha prompts with all sorts of pairings. It's very exciting to see.

I really understand people wanting to avoid spoilers, but the secret really sounded like the OP wasn't really doing that, considering they're annoyed at the kink-meme they were waiting for not running yet.
Personally, I'm not much of a het-fan, but seeing all the different prompts is nice anyway. I love that people love Natasha.
