How many of you read TV Tropes and use the trope articles as prompts to write fic?

(Anonymous) 2012-05-02 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)
You kidding? That place is shit. Full of racists and school kids.

(Anonymous) 2012-05-02 11:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Only if you take the boards and shit seriously. It's great fun if you just sit back and watch.

Much like F!S.

It's true, a lot of the editors are idiots. But I'm talking about the actual tropes.

Like, I don't see anything racist about this: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/LoveFreak
Or this: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/NotWearingTights
Or this: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/CatUpATree

Yeah, the tropes might be okay, if you can guarantee they aren't deleted overnight according to the whim of the guy who looks like Foul Ol' Ron that deletes stuff whenever the voices in his head tell him to.

I'm a little bit worried the site is going to tear itself apart.

Be it from Fast Eddies complete and utter incompetence, the level of ridiculousness centred around hunting down 'pedo-shit', or the Goons self righteous idiocy and hypocrisy.

Feels sad man.

Yeah. Eddie would never be pulling this crap if Gus were still alive to rein him in. Gus must be spinning in his grave at what Eddie is doing to the site, and what janitor is letting him do. Makes me feel depressed. Eddie might be one hell of a coder, but he and Fighteer know jack shit about moderating a large community site and dealing with people.

Y'know, I actually understand why they wouldn't want the articles with the "vulgar" content to have example lists (because some of those pages were starting to get kind of creepy), but why not just cut the examples, trim the description, and lock the page? Why delete the entire thing? I'd say that's going a bit overboard.

(Anonymous) 2012-05-03 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
Do you do that? That'd make a good secret.

(Anonymous) 2012-05-03 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think it's really secret-worthy. It's just a fun way to practice writing.
