I enjoyed this book. I've enjoyed a few of Murakami's books, actually. Last one I read was "Dance Dance Dance", and I have "Sputnik Sweetheart" on my to-read shelf. I like the feel of his novels. They have a very mellow, dream-like quality to them that I really appreciate. He's also a very evocative writer, and I always find myself being swept up by things I tend to gloss over in other books just because he breathes so much life into even the simplest things.

And I know, OP. A lot of my friends don't like Murakami, either. They say his writing is tedious, dull, pretentious, etc. Whatever. I, personally, think he's good. Not perfect by any means, but I like his stuff a lot, regardless.
