Well to be fair, some of us were underage too when we started reading/writing HP smut fics and didn't really think or care about the age of other fic writers or readers.

This. I was sixteen when I reading and started writing HP smut. Didn't see a problem. Even at 25 I don't see much of a problem. *I* was fifteen when I first started having sex, and I lived a normal life. I don't see why (ex) Harry can't be having sex at the same age.

I think a lot of the people who complain about this 1) are super old, 2) are super old and have kids, and 3) delusional about the reality of teenagers and hormones. If you think most non-religious teenagers (and even them) aren't having before legal age, you're crazy.

I don't think it's all "super old" people who complain about things like this. I mean, a normal adolescence often involves having sex before the age of majority or at least knowing a ton of other teenagers who are, but fandom is full of people who didn't have a normal adolescence, as is obvious by some of the serious social milestones so many people in it seem to have skipped somehow, and have never had sex.
