...So I've shipped these characters as sexual since I have been in my early teens. Not because they were teens but because I loved them and related to them. And then I turn 18 and suddenly I am totally perverted pedophiliac for doing what I had always done up to now? How does that even work?!
Also (and this maybe needs to be said at some point,because funnily I've never seen it come up in debates.) most teenagers aren't asexual at all. If I where to believe some of my 13 year old classmates back in the times (i know, mostly smokescreening), more off them had sucked cock and given their virginity to some sweetheart consensually than were already smoking cigarettes (of course this ratio changed immensely in the next year).

Of course this shouldn't mean we should objectify underage characters because they are underage and make our sex szenes all about their frailty, underagy-ness, whathaveyou. But demonizing shippy sexual experiences in a fic that happens to involve one or more character who is not yet of age just because of their age... Makes me contemplate some unpleasent things about you. (Like, is age the only variable you see in a character? Do you actually always use the original images of characters in your head (you know instead of having this dreamfigure or something of them, also strange because especially cartoon caracters almost never look their age) while fantasizing and is the inclusion of a sex szene in a fic automatically pornographic to you? If so, this seems a wee bit skeevy to me here.)

Why not? I'm 29 and I read underage fic because of this. I love the idea of teenagers falling in love and having sex. It's hot, yes, but I also find it ridiculously romantic. Their age, their vulnerability, their passion? I love it all.

I don't see why that's a problem, it's fiction.

I don't know about others but for me there seems to be a line, where you appreciate the characters for their youthfulness, their innocence in experiencing new things and the exploration of sexuality (with younger teenage characters) and their youthful passions ect... and then there's objectification, power play, basically adult porn where you get horny especially because of the age of the characters involved and the (implied) powerlessness this status gives them without any regard to characterisation whatsoever or if this implied state and the behaviour they are showing is even remotely disconected from the powerplay fantasies of the writer.

I hope this isn't the muddle to you, it is to me...

What if you are reading this kind of fic because you imagine yourself as the underage character? Particularly in fic where one participant is an adult and the other is underage?

Seriously? I did this, when I was myself like 13 or something, biggest kink ever. Has mostly vanished as I aged though... guess growing up has weakened my relatability to this kind of scenario.

End of story time. One question back though, who are you in those fantasies? Are you a voyeur in the act? Or are you basically yourself just as a child in these specific situations, with the abilities ect. the character has?
Maybe I'm wrong, but to see yourself as a sexual partner in a fantasy I think there is a level where it's really you in there, not hermione coerced by snape, but the fantasy of yourself as the yearning star pupil fucked over the table by mr. teacher greasy hair, long nose.
Basically the question to me would be, do you get off because mr. teacher fucks the underage girl, who is innocent, under his thrall, and do this especially because she is a child, reducing her solely to her age in these circumstances (see above post) if so, please, please get a good long look at yourself in the mirror.
Or more in the case you described, is it the situation where you more or less Are the character (which takes most porn out of the realm of fanfiction and into the space of porn, wankfodder, whathaveyou... basically you aren't doing it because you want your favorit characters to experience something, but for them to move into sexual positions you would enjoy in their stead.

It's embarrassing and that's why I'm anon because I don't like talking about it. I don't think this kind of thing is too uncommon from what I've read, but most people like myself aren't too open about it because people judge you and get the wrong idea.

Also, in just about any porn I read, watch, whatever, I project myself into it. I've never been voyeuristic in that sense.

You are aware that age play is a kink right? I mean there are adults who like to pretend to be much younger than they are during sex and their partners clearly enjoy the fantasy as well. Its not hard to guess that they might like fic with sex between characters with a large age gap. Since no actual children are involved in anyway, I really don't see the problem - or why they should have to take a long look in the mirror.
