i kinda wanna watch this show, but I think he's hideous. i'm afraid itwill distract me too much to enjoy it.

Doesn't distract me, and I think he's pretty ugly. If you like Sherlcok-esque things already, I'd recommend the show.

Are you kidding? I read the books both before and after I've watched the show and I think its the most faithful adaption yet! (with the exception of the modern setting and the things that are attached to that obvs)

LOL. The lack of pretty on this show was one of the main reasons I avoided watching it initially but then I decided to give it a try when I found out Moffat was the head writer. You honestly start to forget how fugly both the actors are once you realize charisma and talent can balance things out and that quality shows don't in fact need attractive people to succeed.

Plus Cumberbatch/Freeman have awesome chemistry and I can see why they're an extremely popular slash pair (although I still personally find them very unappealing in that "way")

it doesnt bother me if the actors aren't pretty (i dont think freeman is attractive but i enjoy him as an actor,) but i find cumberbatch's face kind of creepy. actively displeasing, not just not-appealing. but i think i may give it a shot sooner or later.

Shit, people are really that shallow when it comes to tv shows? Jesus I couldn't imagine just not watching a show because I don't find the cast attractive, I would have missed out on a lot of great things if that was the case.

I found his face really distracting for the first half hour or so, but after that you sort of get used to it. And then every once in a while he makes one of those terrifying faces that make him look like an angry frog, but you just have to deal with that. Occupational hazard of watching the show.

I doubt it will. He's fantastic as the character so either you won't really care about how he looks and just be happy to watch him play Holmes, or how good he is will sort of ~draw you in~ until you find yourself suddenly attracted to him. (The second happened to me. I never thought he was HIDEOUS but I didn't want to hit it until the last 10 minutes of the first-season finale)
