The hypocrisy in this thread amazes me -- you and the OP are the only honest people in it. We watch people killing each other for sport all the time: we just use special effects to create the depictions, is all.

...and the fact that we know it's fake is what allows to enjoy the story instead of being horrified by the death. Fiction =/= reality.

if it were real I wouldn't watch it. I can't even watch footy or races because any pain in there is real. I still flinch if something in the movie hits my "too real" button i.e Sherlock dislocating that guys knee in the movie.

as above anon says, we watch it because we KNOW it's fake.

Uh, dude, there's a little thing called not being morally horrified and disgusted that some pixels died for your entertainment. You're basically equating liking Tom and Jerry with wanting to torture your pets.

Fiction, dear. That's fictional death. Very few people want to see an actual snuff film. We want to be able to see the actors alive and happy and being able to work on other things.

everyone's defensive reactions to this are hilarious. so i guess what it shows is, people will always like watching other ppl get in death matches, but you can still train them to be squeamish about pain/death/etc.
