Wait, why is this a secret? What's so shameful about giving your baby up for adoption?

Because you're suppose to raise the kid. How could you want to give up your own baby? You must be heartless or lazy or something.

Yeah, I get the negative side of this a lot when I mention I gave my kid up for adoption. Never mind that I was in college and had no way of supporting myself, much less a kid. I wanted him to have a chance.

I don't regret my choice and people often are more "wow, you're brave" than anything else, but there's a lot of negativity.
